Time and Tide is an immersive audio-visual installation conceived and created by Martin Aitken.
Delivered in the village of Fittie across the last weekend on January 2022, Time and Tide formed part of Safe Harbour: Open Sea, a Culture Collective project funded by Creative Scotland and ran by Open Road Ltd and the Fittie Community Development Trust.

Audio interviews with Fittie residents past and present (conducted by Victoria Fifield) formed the backbone of the installation as it explored the village's history, its relationship with the sea, residents memories of growing up in the village and the experience of newer 'incomers' as they make a new home for themselves in the unique coastal location.
The installation featured historical and current photos of the village, projection, atmospheric lighting and a varied soundscape including music especially composed for the piece by Geraldine Heaney and Marie Driver.
